The weeping sequoia or weeping giant redwood (sequoiadendron giganteum pendula) is one of my favorite trees and always catches my eye whether I’m walking about Victoria or riding on the bus. There is so much character in these oddly shaped trees. The new growth that surfaces each year often intensifies whatever mood it conveys to me. The protruding branches seem to be reaching out to the sky or to it’s neighboring trees. Dr. Seuss was fond of them also and the weeping sequoia trees are frequently referred to as Dr. Seuss trees.
